Tools You Need for Gardening

The latest gardening gadgets give you superior quality of work and are easy to use. Here are some of the basic gardening tools that you should have as a “green thumb” beginner.
1. Spade / Shovel
This is a worthwhile investment. Shovels or gardening spades are sturdy and durable. The main purpose of a shovel is to move small mounds of dirt and dig holes for planting. A spade shovel will last you for many years before you need to replace it.
2. Hoe
This tool is used to carve out weeds from a garden and shape the soil to plant different seeds. If you are starting out with a vegetable garden you might need a hoe. The kind of garden you have will determine what kind of hoe you should have. A wide faced hoe is ideal for a vegetable garden, but if you want one for perennial flowers, a thinner and more delicate hoe should be used.
3. Lopper (Scissor Tool)
Think of these as snipping scissors for giving your plans a haircut. Trees and shrubs that are well maintained have had a lopper used on them at some point. If your garden is growing wildly, especially those trees and shrubs, you should have a lopper handy to tame your garden. A well-trimmed garden will add to your home’s aesthetics.
4. Gloves
When you’re gardening, you will come across thorny plants, splinters and dirt. You need not fret about it when you have the right pair of gloves. The gloves need to be durable but not too heavy, as they could hinder your gardening work.
5. Rake
If you have a lot of trees in your garden, you will most likely need a rake. Rakes need not be made of metal as many of them are made of plastic and will help clear up the organic debris (fallen leaves etc.) from your garden, leaving it cleaner for you. A clean garden will make you feel better, every time you look out at it.
6. Hand Trowel
The work that the hoe starts, the hand trowel finishes. When you clear out different weeds from your garden and make way for seeds, a hand trowel is a handy tool to level the ground after you plant the seeds. The seeds are surrounded by nutrient rich soil when the ground above is leveled after planting.
